Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal Maintenance

Gingivitis is the early stage of gum inflammation, it causes the gums to swell and bleed easily while causing little to no discomfort. Gingivitis is usually caused by inadequate oral hygiene. It is reversible with regular professional treatment and practicing good oral hygiene.

Deep Cleaning/Scaling and Root Planning

If Gingivitis is left untreated it will advance to Periodontitis. These pockets become infected and as the disease progresses, they deepen causing the destruction of more gum tissue and bone. Symptoms include bleeding gums, bad taste in mouth, halitosis, and in some cases abscesses. Eventually the teeth may become loose and need to be removed. Professional cleaning such as scaling and root planning can be performed in order to remove plaque and tarter from deep periodontal pockets using hard instruments and ultrasonic.
